The Hurt Locker...

... unquestionably deserved the Academy Award for Best Picture. It might be one of the most thrilling, "real" films I've seen. It felt like a documentary, but one that was crafted to keep the audience constantly on the edge of its seat. It also felt remarkably unbiased--the story was paramount. Avatar was a sumptuous visual feast and a technological marvel of a movie with a good message, but the story, dialogue and acting of The Hurt Locker (to say nothing of its brilliant cinematography, editing and sound) elevated it well beyond Avatar's visual thrills and game-changing technological innovations. I don't want to really get too into it, honestly. I just want to go on the record: The Hurt Locker deserved it, without a doubt. I wouldn't have changed a frame of it.
